To correctly interpret the feelings of others and act accordingly, one must start with oneself. Self-awareness of one‘s own emotional world plays a central role in sensitizing oneself to the emotions of others. Only when we learn to understand ourselves, can we broaden a perspective that enables us to better comprehend others.
We are in the year 2023. In the world as we know it today, there are approximately 8.06 billion people, each separated by individual experiences and circumstances. However, every individual undergoes emotions—whether joy, sadness, fear, anger, disgust, surprise, or contempt.
Emotions are highly complex and can be significantly influenced by individual experiences, cultural influences, and personal perspectives. The seven emotions depicted are also known as basic emotions, and, according to psychologist Paul Ekman, are expressed and understood similarly worldwide.
