Categorical thinking is a human tendency to organise information and experiences into fixed patterns in order to better understand the world around us and make decisions more quickly. It is a cognitive process in which we simplify complex realities. A downside, however, is the bias towards stereotypes and prejudices, as we tend to overlook complexities and only see what fits into our categories.
This series of artworks aims to raise awareness of destigmatising representations of people living with a disability. By combining the elegance of nude painting with the realistic depiction of everyday situations, my work aims to show the beauty and dignity of the human body and life, regardless of physical ability, and focus on the individuality and normality of everyday life.
