Das Schachspiel / 50cm x 50cm / Oil paint on canvas / 2025
Schachspiel
Two people meeting in a game that is otherwise associated with elites, education, and prestige got my attention during a walk in the city. It was not staged, not intended to attract attention.
In our society, people who experience homelessness are often labeled with dehumanizing terms like “anti-social” or “lazy.” My painting aims to make the invisible visible and offer a space for reflection about our assumption of intelligence and creativity.
